The LANGE HAUS Altfriedland was first mentioned in 1727. It is a former farm worker's house in which eight families found a home. Today it is the domicile of the association of the same name. The association not only takes care of the small local folklore, it also organizes themed hikes in and around Altfriedland. Around the LANGE HAUS you will find seasonally changing exhibitions of local herbs in raised beds and in the small herb garden.

Behind the Long House is the herb garden, cared for and cared for by Alfred Effert. In 2017, the garden behind the Long House was redesigned and upgraded with three new raised beds. The herbs and plants are labeled with name tags. The latest project is the digital herb garden. The idea was born when the herb hikes were canceled due to the corona pandemic and contacts had to be minimized. But since there were still many visitors on site, they wanted to find a solution. The existing herb labels in the garden have been renewed and provided with a QR code. Scanning the QR code opens a short podcast in which Alfred Effert gives some information about the herbs.
