The western part of the transnational biosphere reserve Elbe River Landscape runs between Tesperhude and Lauenburg on the Hohe Elbufer. Forested, steeply rising Elbe slopes with many gaps and notch valleys characterize the landscape and offer wonderful views of the great river from the beautiful hiking and biking trails. Regularly flooded riparian forests in the bank areas are the habitat of the beavers, who feel at home here again. A two-kilometer beaver nature trail invites you to hike in the footsteps of Europe's largest rodent.Hiking trail & Elberadweg: approx. 15 km (Geesthacht - Lauenburg)
