The House of the Dead is a tomb from the Middle Bronze Age around 1200 BC.
A detour is definitely worth it.

A surprising discovery was made in the Grünhof district of Tesperhude in 1932. During the removal of a Bronze Age burial mound, four burials from the Middle Bronze Age were found. The age of the graves is estimated to be around 1200 BC.
Under the direction of archaeologist Karl Kersten, when the burial mound was removed, rectangular stone packs with two troughs with post holes were discovered, containing the remains of tree coffins with the relics of a young woman and her small child. Further research results indicate that a mortuary house made of field stone, wood and clay-plastered wattle walls was built over the graves. The house was burned and a mound of earth was placed over the remains.
The graves are located near the B5 towards Lauenburg. Shortly behind the Grünhof district, turn left into the forest. The gravesite is signposted.
