Best view of the Red Lion Windmill across the canal. De Roode Leeuw is the largest of the Gouda windmills that still exist today. Mill and shop open Thursday 9am - 2pm / Saturday 9am - 4pm / by appointment. Guided tours (max. 25 people) by appointment only.

Hiking

The De Roode Leeuw windmill is a historic smock mill in Gouda, built in 1727 and rebuilt in 1771. Originally a corn mill, it is now a working monument that no longer grinds. The mill has been restored several times, and until early 2025, it housed a shop selling artisanal products. It is located on the Vest, near Gouda's old town center.
