27 towers of this type stood along the sea border. Only two survive today. The Baltic Sea border tower in Kühlungsborn is the only one open to the public.

The Baltic Sea Border Tower in Kühlungsborn is a former watchtower of the Coastal Border Brigade of the GDR border troops. As a sea border observation tower (BT 11), it was one of a series of 27 towers of this type along the GDR coast, two of which have survived. The other surviving watchtower is located in Börgerende.
