Unfortunately, at some point you have to go over to the Ostseeallee, because driving is forbidden on the promenade. Even better, plan a little more time and push the bike and enjoy the promenade.

At 3,150 m long, Kühlungsborn has one of the longest beach promenades in Germany; it ends on the western edge of the city in Kühlungsborn-West, the former Arendsee, at Baltic-Platz. The seaside resort's wide sandy beach, which lies in front of a coastal dune fortified with beach grass and the promenade, stretches for a distance of around six kilometers along the Baltic Sea coast. Between the beach and the built-up urban area there is a strip of forest that protects Kühlungsborn from wind and weather, but also from the sand blowing from the coast. The trees and bushes in the forest strip are part of the approximately 1,500 hectare Kühlungsborn city forest, which surrounds the city in a ring.
