The Church of Our Lady (Vor Frue Kirke) is the oldest church in the city and was built towards the end of the 12th century. A wooden church had previously stood on the same site since the 10th century, which was later replaced by a granite church. Right next to the church is Odense's oldest non-church house, which was built around 1300. The building used to function as a Latin school and later it was a mortuary chapel. Nowadays it is used for church congregation meetings.
