Sankt Knuds Kirke, also known as Odense Cathedral, dates from the 14th century, is one of the most important Danish sacred buildings and has an impressive Gothic altar by Claus Berg from 1521.

Sankt Knud's Church in Odense is named after Knud the Saint who was murdered in St. Alban's Church in 1086.

The construction of the current Gothic church was started at the end of the 13th century by Bishop Gisico after an older church burned down. Remains of the original church can be seen in the crypt.

The church was consecrated on April 30, 1499.

The steeple was added in connection with a renovation in the 1580s. It is 63 meters high, making it one of the tallest buildings in Odense.

Over time the church has undergone a number of renovations, but today it is believed to look similar to what it did around the Reformation in 1536. It must be considered one of the most magnificent Gothic buildings in Denmark.
