The riverside promenade offers stunning views of the skyline and is the perfect place to take a stroll, relax or simply watch the hustle and bustle of the river.

Another highlight of the Mainkai is the Museumsufer, a series of museums along the river that offer a wide range of art, history and culture. Here you can discover the history of Frankfurt, view an impressive art collection or just stroll through the gardens.

The Mainkai is a street on the right bank of the Main in Frankfurt's old town between the Old Bridge and the Lower Main Bridge. It was created in 1826 by filling up and widening the mooring and landing place on the banks of the Main, which had been fortified since the Middle Ages. It is now a promenade along the river and was reserved for pedestrians and cyclists for a year on a trial basis from July 30, 2019.[1]

The Mainkai continues downstream into the Lower Mainkai with the Nizza, a part of Frankfurt's green belt. Together with the Schaumainkai on the opposite side of the Main, it forms the Museumsufer.

The connecting line of the port railway runs along the Mainkai, which is also used for special passenger trains of the Frankfurt Historical Railway. The Mainkai is the main mooring point for the Frankfurt passenger shipping company and a departure point for the Cologne-Düsseldorf Rhine shipping company

Here you can really stroll right along the water - but there are a lot of people on the move. In addition to pedestrians, there are also joggers and cyclists here.
