The Villa Wertheimber was built in 1898 and initially only served as a summer residence for the owners of a private bank who otherwise resided in Frankfurt's Myliusstraße and was one of the dignitaries of the Rhine-Main area; Frankfurt's mayor, Franz Adickes, was one of the friends of the family. The family suffered a terrible fate during the Nazi regime because they were of Jewish origin.
