The first church for Harthau, Berbisdorf and Eibenberg was probably a wooden church in place of today's "Old Church". It was first mentioned in 1539 for the introduction of the Reformation, but already as a "stone church". Still existing evidence from this period are the baptismal font (Kuppa) and remains of the tabernacle.

In 1609 the church was enlarged:
"..the whole building is redone ...".

In 1765, the pulpit altar created by the chemin wood sculptor Christian Suttinger was set up.

At the end of the First World War, the old church was converted into a war memorial chapel. Since 1945, after the Second World War, the chapel remained unused and was left to decay. It was not until 1990 that work began on its renovation and repair. Today it serves as an event and concert hall.
