There are tons of trails to explore here, and you can't get lost because every single path, no matter how small, is perfectly signposted. Amazing! Plenty of benches, all impeccably maintained, offer opportunities to rest and enjoy the stunning scenery.

A Walk Through Chemnitz - European Capital of Culture 2025



The motto is "C the unseen"... to see the invisible... or perhaps even to discover... and that's how you can also understand this short walk through the European Capital of Culture.

This time, the route starts in the Chemnitz district of Adelsberg. Once you reach Altenhain, the route quickly climbs into the Sternmühlental valley, where you could cycle comfortably along a side road, if it weren't for those cars... ;-) From Kunnersdorf, the route continues along the Zschopautal cycle

The route follows familiar paths along Adelsbergstraße to the Goldener Hahn (Golden Rooster). From there, the route continues along the old Zschopauer Straße, alongside the new B 174, to the Ruhebank settlement, where it passes under the main road and through the forest. Only this short section is off

From the city center, this direction is still my favorite route... wide, unfrequented paths, and a constant moderate incline mean you can also do something for your fitness ;-) Once you're "at the top," there's a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside and Chemnitz before you head back to the city

As the saying goes, "The journey is the destination," and so there was soooo much for me to see on this short stretch.

Combining the Gebaweg and Dr.-Malade-Weg trails, this hike in the Hohe Geba region guarantees stunning scenery and plenty of stamps. This was supposed to be a relaxed, flat stage – if I hadn't wanted to go to Schellenberg Castle. After I also took a wrong turn, things got quite challenging in Schellenberg. It was worth it for me – the castle is like an adventure playground, and I also got to see a section of the Historical High Trail

The Walser Legends Trail is a beautiful family hiking trail. Divided into three stages, you can walk it in half or in its entirety... and you can combine the trail with the Walser Museum in Triesenberg. It's best to go to the museum first, pick up the map, and then collect stamps along the way to pick
