The "House of Rivers" is an information center of the Middle Elbe Biosphere Reserve. The permanent exhibition showcases the natural treasures to be discovered along the Elbe and Havel rivers, how the rivers have been altered by humans, and why natural rivers are so valuable. The House of Rivers is located directly on the Havel River. It features a large outdoor area with a water playground and a wealth of information about the nature of the biosphere reserve. The grounds also include a renaturalized oxbow lake of the Havel, including the historic Petroleum Island, accessible via a footbridge.

The House of Rivers Natura 2000 Information Center of the Middle Elbe Biosphere Reserve was opened in July 2015. The building was constructed from larch wood on the site of a former brick factory.
In the permanent exhibition, the visitor is informed about the diversity of the river landscape of the Elbe and the Havel and their endangerment with the help of 27 partially multimedia stations. Furthermore, possibilities and measures for the preservation and restoration of protected habitats as well as plant and animal species are informed.
The outdoor area with a footbridge and a viewing platform over the Havel side arm to the river island is also worth seeing. Admission is free.
