Welcome to the Hof van Busleyden Museum! Enter this grand and beautiful Renaissance city palace in Mechelen, the capital of the Burgundian Netherlands. Follow in the footsteps of Hieronymus van Busleyden, Margareta Van Austria, Erasmus and Thomas More. Exchange ideas and reflect on a changing world, just like then.

The world opened up in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. You feel the sensation of a new era, the renaissance, in which people are central. Times when everything seems to change. Today, this house is once again a place of encounter and conversation, a breeding ground for ideas and a gathering place for art.

Experience the surprising Burgundian history and delve deeper and deeper into the Hof van Busleyden, with its treasures and stories. You will discover how Burgundians looked at the city, how they dealt with power, and what mastery and craftsmanship meant to them. You move from lively and busy spaces to more private and quiet places. You will go in search of the real Margareta and come face to face with the intriguing and vulnerable Enclosed Gardens.

In this museum we look back on the glorious history of the city and look forward to the future together. Travel back and forth between then and now. Experiment and enter into a dialogue with the museum and its ever-changing collection. The story is never finished.
