Brouwerij Het Anker, a brewery with a centuries-old history, best known for its Gouden Carolus. The buildings, which had deteriorated over the years, were given a makeover about 15 years ago. Since then, the production volume has increased significantly and other beers have also flowed from the brewing kettles, such as Hopsinjoorke, De Blusser and Anker Herfstbok. The first Flemish whiskey also matured here: Gouden Carolus Single Malt, distilled from malt mash.
There is a brasserie and a hotel.

Brewery Het Anker enjoys worldwide fame with the renowned Gouden Carolus beer. Dating back to 1471, it is one of the oldest breweries in Belgium. The three copper kettles in the brewing room date from just after the Second World War.
In the 1990s, the building received a major refurbishment. Charles Leclef, the fifth generation of the family, restores the old buildings and modernizes the cooling, fermentation and lagering installations.
The multiple award-winning specialty beers Gouden Carolus Classic and Gouden Carolus Tripel are still brewed here today in the authentic brewing room with copper kettles.
The Gouden Carolus exists in different versions. The best known is undoubtedly the Gouden Carolus Classic. In 2012, this specialty beer again won the gold medal at the World Beer Awards, as one of the 7 best beers in the world. The jury described the winning beer as follows: "Full and rich scent of syrup and toffee. Powerful yet soft. (...) Full-bodied beer with rich fruit flavors and a long, warm aftertaste."
In cafés, and of course also the brasserie of Het Anker itself, the various beers are served in tasting glasses.
As an individual visitor you can visit the brewery at fixed times. It is best to book in advance, because places are limited.
