The theater was built in 1895/1896 in the style of Wilhelmine historicism by Bernhard Sehring on the former coal area of the C. Bolle dairy. Work on Kantstrasse began in August 1895 and the foundation stone was laid on September 4, 1895. The first operator of the theater was Theater des Westens GmbH, a company owned by Bernhard Sehring and Paul Blumenreich. The theater opened on October 1, 1896 with Holger Drachmann's fairytale play Thousand and One Nights. After the desired success of the theater initially failed to materialize, the house was used as an opera stage from 1898 and as an operetta theater from 1908.

formerly used as a theater, then as an opera. Nice building with a great foyer.
