Manfred von Richthofen was buried by Australian air officers on April 22, 1918, in Bertangles, France.

In 1925, his body, transported by his brother Karl-Bolko, was reburied in the Invalidenfriedhof Cemetery in Berlin. From 1961 onward, the Invalidenfriedhof Cemetery was located directly behind the Berlin Wall and was no longer accessible to the public. His family was allowed to move the grave.

The reburial took place in 1975, and since then, the remains of the 'Red Baron' have rested alongside those of his brother Karl-Bolko and his sister Elisabeth in the family grave in the Südfriedhof Wiesbaden.
