Here the Kuppritz water meanders through a densely wooded valley, actually a well-behaved, inconspicuous brook. In 1937/38 the then manor owner Hans von Loeben, who studied forestry in Tharandt near Dresden, had the shady stream meadows carefully planted with native and foreign woody plants. After the creation of the park, when visiting Kuppritz it was customary to bring a tree sapling for the park instead of a gift. Even today, lush rhododendrons in particular bloom here every summer and invite you to linger.
Unfortunately, there have been several floods in recent years. Within a few minutes the brook swelled into a raging current and devastated the wonderful landscape park. The community of Hochkirch is doing its best to win back the gem with money and skill.
