The Niethener Schanze is one of the best preserved and mightiest ramparts in Upper Lusatia. It has been protected as an archaeological monument since 1954.

The Kuppritzer water flows below the ski jump. To the west, the wall is protected by the rocky valley slope of the creek. On the estate side, the section wall has been applied, described in the illustration as a wall crest. This rises to a height of 13 m. The cauldron inside has a diameter of 120 m in length and 80 m in width. The old entrance on the south side is still clearly visible and is still used today.

Settlers lived here as early as the Bronze Age. However, it was only from the 9th century that permanent use as a fortification can be assumed. During the German rule especially in the 13./14. In the 19th century there was probably an earth tower on the rampart.
