If you like castles, you'll like the Wartburg! Hardly any other castle is so closely connected to German history. The most famous guests who have stayed here since it was founded in 1067 by Ludwig the Springer were Martin Luther, Saint Elizabeth, Goethe and Wagner. The Wartburg has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999.

The inner courtyard is well worth seeing with the Palas, the cistern, its half-timbered buildings and the medieval castle garden. Everything is renovated and beautifully prepared.
