Who likes castles, likes the Wartburg! Hardly any other castle is so connected with German history. The most famous guests of sleep, since the foundation in 1067 by Ludwig the Springer, were Martin Luther, the holy Elisabeth, Goethe and Wagner.
The Wartburg has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999.

The "Lutherstube" is world-famous and is located on the Wartburg Castle in Eisenach, where Martin Luther stayed from 1521 to 1522 as a reformer, hiding and translating the New Testament into German in just eleven weeks.

Especially at Christmas time all of Eisenach, under the landmark of the Wartburg, shines in a festive splendor. On Advent weekends, the "Historic Christmas Market" opens here, on the Wartburg, in front of a unique backdrop.
The fairy-tale atmosphere puts you in a long-forgotten time and brings
not only children's eyes for blasting.
The Wartburg has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999.

The furniture is not original, but the living room with engraved initials of visitors over hundreds of years. A special place!

Great views over Eisenach and the surrounding area from above! The south tower was formerly used as a dungeon.

Lutherstube - Still the highlight of the Wartburg. It is the fountain of such great German history.
However, the room itself is not as impressive as this story.
A table, a chair, a picture and the fireplace. Finished...

The south tower can be climbed and offers a magnificent view of the castle and the surrounding area, far into the Thuringian Forest and the foothills.

Whether he actually threw his inkwell on the wall here is controversial. But a spot is there. And is not every real story all the prettier when it is peppered with legends?
