The imposing and largest Baroque building of the city was built from 1739. Since then he has witnessed many changes in the history of Göttingen, but the house still exists in the Goethe-Allee 8. Today it houses the inns "Mr. Jones "and" Potato House ".

The Graetzel House is located in Goethe-Allee 8 in 37073 Göttingen.
It was built from 1739-1744 as a residential and commercial building for the cloth manufacturer Johann Heinrich Graetzel. In 1745 a massive double column portal with crowning coat of arms was created. Statues can be seen on either side of the pediment, on the left the goddess of science Minerwa and on the right the god of mercury.
Since 1999, the gastronomy "Kartoffelhaus" has been located on the ground floor.
