"When Franz-Georg von Metternich-Ochsenhausen sold Reinhardstein Castle in 1812, its fate seemed sealed. From then on, the castle was used as a quarry. Professor Overloop was enthusiastic about what was left of the building 150 years later. The scholar left the ruins to Stein from 1970 onwards Rebuild the stone. As a model, he used comparable buildings in the nearby Eifel. Today, Reinhardstein Castle is enthroned as proudly as it was in its heyday on the rocky spur.
