With rain forecasts in Adelboden, we decided to head out to Kiental. We were absolutely stunned by the beauty of the untouched nature of this valley with it’s many waterfalls, sloping green pastures against the backdrop of the most stunning capricious rock faces and deep gorges eroded by the Gamchi glacier.

The via ferrata Mürren had been on my wishlist for quite some time; unfortunately this ferrata is very hyped but not too enjoyable if you’re more experienced. For beginners though, I think this ferrata is plenty of fun and has some nice sections to offer. As we completed the ferrata much earlier than expected we decided to descend from Gimmelwald and head up to Tanzbödeli; our most favorite section of Lauterbrunnen valley. It’s quite a steep climb but the views of the surrounding mountains more than make up for it :)

Marked as K4, this ferrata is definitely not for the faint-hearted as it will take you high up along the waterfalls and cliffs of the Allmenalp. This ferrata has a nice variation in climbs and is technically not too difficult, but the elevation in combination with the duration (about 2,5 hours), and in our case slipperiness due to rainfall, the route can still be quite challenging. Also make sure you’re familiar with crossing rope bridges :) A very nice ferrata with stunning views on the waterfall and the Kander valley with its snowy mountain peaks.

A nice ferrata taking you along the impressive Engstligen waterfall. This ferrata is rated K2 so it’s quite easy and also manageable for beginners. It gives you some of the most amazing viewpoints on the waterfall. Once you’ve reached the top, there are plenty of options. We decided to continue our ascent towards the Engstligengrad and follow the ridge towards the Tschingellochtighorn. From there you have great views onto the Tällisee and the Walliser alps, including the Weisshorn. From there we headed back down along the ridge and back towards the car park.

Just a wonderful climb towards the foot of the Dent Blanche. Throughout this hike you’re treated with the most magnificent views on the the Ferpècle glacier.

A great Via Ferrata along the cliffs overlooking the valley of Evolène and the Dent Blanc & Aiguille de la Tsa in the far distance. This ferrata consists of three sections: The first section is considered difficult (K4+) as it starts with a slight overhang. The second and third section is considered very difficult (K5+) as the elevation is much higher and includes 2 longer and more pronounced overhanging sections which require good stamina and a bit of arm strength.
