Following the baptism path in the direction of Ampleben, on the right-hand side is the place, which is described in traditions as a brook, in which the drunk midwife tumbled into the brook with little Till after returning from the 1st baptism in Ampleben and Till fell a second time was baptized in one day.
According to tradition, Till Eulenspiegel was baptized 3 times a day. The first baptism took place in the village of Ampleben, where the baptismal font can still be seen today. On the baptismal path it is then towards Kneitlingen where Till was baptized a second time shortly before the outskirts.

The joker Till Eulenspiegel was born in Kneitlingen on the Elm River as the son of Klaus and Anne Wiebke. The parents of rural origins were happy about the birth of the beautiful child, who would later become known worldwide for his pranks.

Klaus and Anne Wiebke gave their son the name Till - after the knight of the same name, who was also to become the boy's godfather. Of course, according to tradition, little Till had to be baptized. But there was no church in the small village, so the entire baptism party moved to the next village. In the neighboring village of Ampleben, the boy was baptized in the church by Pastor Pfaffenmeyer.

It was a beautiful baptism and the whole baptism party enjoyed the beautiful event. Since the christening celebration was so nice and it was appropriate, the boy's father invited all the guests to the nearest inn for a few hours of conviviality. The guests had fun after the baptism, they drank and danced and it became more and more joyful.

The midwife, who had Till on her lap, particularly enjoyed one or two beers. After the celebration was over, the baptism party made its way home. The route to Kneitlingen led over a footbridge over a small river. Even though the river wasn't very deep, it was full of slime. However, the route over the shaky footbridge was not so easy for the midwife, who had looked a little too deeply into the glass.

The poor midwife could no longer keep her balance with Till in her arms and fell into the muddy river with the child. Luckily no one was hurt, but little Till was screaming like crazy and was covered in mud. This made the cheerful company laugh even more. This was his second baptism on the same day.

After little Till was brought home, he had to be bathed again immediately. This was the third time the child was baptized: once in the church, the second time in the river and last but not least in the bathtub.
