The history of the old machine factory goes back to 1867. Initially, leather processing machines were manufactured here by the company owner Philipp Swiderski, but soon also machines for letterpress printing as well as lithography presses, steam engines and locomotives. From 1916 onwards, however, the focus was again on the production of printing presses and later folding machines.
In 1953 the company was nationalized and continued under the name VEB Bogenanlegerwerk. Operations were stopped after the fall of the Wall.
