Particularly interesting are the remains of the former train platform from GDR times.
As the only S-Bahn station Schönfließ is only connected by S-Bahn to public transport. Built in 1953 as a control station for train traffic to Berlin, its history is closely linked to the division of Berlin. After the construction of the wall, the construction of the S-Bahn line to Birkenwerder (now S8) and the connection of the station to the East Berlin S-Bahn network.
The station is an often forgotten piece of history of the Berlin Wall.

The Schönfließ S-Bahn station on the outer ring of the railway was an emergency solution of the GDR in order to maintain the S-Bahn traffic to Oranienburg. That's why it's so far from the place. Until the Mühlenbeck-Mönchmühle station was built, the route from Blankenburg to Schönfließ was the longest station on the Berlin S-Bahn in the entire city, at fifteen minutes. But at around eleven minutes, it is still the longest station, even before the route between Grunewald and Nikolassee.
