At Kelders 33 is the birthplace of Mata Hari (Margaretha Zelle). Mata Hari lived with her family above her father's hat shop. Inside the house, two posters with photo collages commemorate the former residents.
The Zelle family had a close connection to this place, as Margaretha's father was also born there. In front of the house, which now houses the Maxx store, once stood the stately Hotel "de Nieuwe Doelen."
