The Oude Lombardsteeg, also called Passage de la Baleine, refers to the covered passages in Paris. At the same time, the work refers to the time when a large estuary divided the old sea clay area in Friesland in two and Leeuwarden was a settlement on the Middelzee. The ribs of a whale skeleton form the arches of a passage - the whale seems to be stuck in the narrow alley in the center of Leeuwarden. The LED lighting incorporated in the 60-metre-long skeleton still sets the entire organic colossus in motion again.
