In the hamlet of Höllsteig, at the entrance to the Ravenna Gorge, there is a small customs house. It is a replica of an 18th century customs station. A toll was once levied here for the route to Hinterzarten. At times, the star hosts of the nearby Gasthaus zum Sternen were used as customs officers and maintained the paths. Inside the customs house there is a small exhibition on the history of transport in the Höllental.
