Rest area with an old well that used to supply the work animals (horses and oxen) in the forest with water.

Schwärmwald is a district of the municipality of Schermbeck
The twilight forest has beautiful cycle paths

The Jakobsbrunnen in the middle of the twilight forest was laid out over 100 years ago by a local farmer named Jakob. At that time, more and more softwood was felled as pit wood in the Dusk Forest and transported by horses and oxen from the forest to the Lippe or the nearest train station (the Wesel-Haltern line was opened in 1874).

The fountain, which is now located at a central crossroads of hiking trails, served as a drinking trough for the draft animals. The drinking trough was fed with groundwater. The well socket made of bricks is bricked up today.
