A beautiful route that takes you quickly from Dorsten to Schermbeck.

Soon the bushes and trees will be green and provide great shade in the summer.

The Haltern–Venlo railway line was a single-track main line in North Rhine-Westphalia and the Netherlands, originally built and operated by the Cologne-Minden Railway Company (CME) as part of the supra-regional Hamburg-Venlo Railway. The line, now largely disused and dismantled, branched off the Wanne-Eickel–Hamburg railway line in Haltern and led via Wesel and Geldern to Venlo.

The Roman-Lippe Route long-distance cycle route runs largely along the converted railway line in the section from Wesel to Haltern. Since what remains of the railway line between Wesel-Wittenberg and Drevenack is a listed monument, the cycle path mostly runs parallel to the line on this section.
