The Kaitzbach spring (a so-called stratified spring) rises here and at several other points along the tree line. The natural monument was reactivated in 1954. By the time the Wall came down, the creek had flowed about 500 meters into a pond that was used as a bath. In 1990 film scenes for the film "Go Trabi Go" were shot on it.
The Kaitzbach flows into the Elbe as far as Dresden and, as the name suggests, through Dresden-Kaitz. The Elbe river is underground, east of the Brühlsche Terrasse and is symbolically reproduced by a meandering glass installation on the meadow.

The source of the twelve-kilometer-long Kaitzbach is located in a semi-open stone roundel. In the 18th century the Kaitzbach, along with Heiliger Born and Weißeritz, contributed to the drinking water supply of Dresden. What hardly anyone knows: The Kaitzbach has a second source in Kleinnaundorf. However, this is piped underground and is hardly visible.

The source of the Kaitzbach is actually quite inconspicuous. But water continuously comes out of the ground and feeds the stream. In combination with the beautiful little wooden bridge and the natural features, it is worth seeing.
