"One of the largest medieval defense towers in Germany in the middle of Andernach - the round tower was built from 1440 to 1453 and is 56 meters high. It is considered the city's landmark and represents a stone testimony to the city's self-confidence, but it held up in the years 1689 a blasting attempt by the French. A hole on the west side of the tower still bears witness to this."
