The Großbeeren sewage farm is one of the oldest sewage farms in Berlin. It was in operation from 1881 to 1996. Around 52,000 cubic meters of wastewater were trickled here every day at peak times. Today, the site is mainly renatured, but also used for commercial purposes. On a two-kilometer circular route you can learn interesting things about the history, function and importance of the sewage fields at seven information points.

This is where the monument trail begins over the Großbeerener Rieselfelder, on which the Berlin wastewater was seeped away after it had been treated. The systems were in continuous operation from 1881 to 1996 and are now a protected technical monument.
