The rock hole at Plech is a shaft cave and was archaeologically examined in 1967/68. The oldest finds date from the Early Bronze Age (1800-1600 BC). Skeleton remains of 49 people, including men, women and children, were recovered in two younger shift packages. While R. A. Maier, head of the investigation, interpreted the rock hole as a place of sacrifice, today people tend to see a place of burial from the Late Bronze Age and the Iron Age.
