The best view over the fairytale Schönbrunn and the skyline of Vienna in the background. There is a café in the Gloriette itself, and the terrace on the roof can also be visited for an admission fee. But the view is also great from the ground floor.

So be sure to climb the hill and visit the Gloriette, built in 1775. More information is available at schoenbrunn.at/ueber-schoenbrunn/schlosspark/rundgang/gloriette.

Gloriette was built in 1775 as the last structure, Schönbrunn Palace
Only in the course of the garden design carried out by Johann Ferdinand Hetzendorf von Hohenberg could the project finally be realised. The Gloriette was built in 1775 according to plans by the architect mentioned as an early classical colonnade building on the hilltop.
The structure consists of a triumphal arch-like central part and lateral arched arcade wings. The central part, which was glazed in the last year of Maria Theresa's life, is crowned by a mighty imperial eagle on the globe, surrounded by weapon trophies. The flat roof is bordered by a balustrade and was already used as a viewing platform at the beginning of the 19th century. It is still accessible today via stairs.

A nice view of the Schönbrunn Palace. In the background you can see the city of Vienna.
The Gloriette is also very impressive from the castle.
