In the immediate vicinity of the castle there is an imposing black and white half-timbered house: the count's mint - the Münte. From 1300 coins for the Diepholz noblemen were minted there. Until 1531 the Münte was the residence of the mint master Lambert Vlemynck. After the Münte was destroyed in the Thirty Years War, it was rebuilt and the west wing was added in 1775. The building has been owned by the city of Diepholz since 1956. The house stands on a green island between the Lohne and the Mühlkanal at the entrance of the beautiful "Müntepark".
