The peace sign is part of the sculpture trail.
The sculpture, designed by Ulrich Halfpap and created with the help of some Diepholz friends, is intended to commemorate the terrible events of November 13, 2015, when terrorists murdered 130 people in Paris in the club "Bataclan" and elsewhere. Peace movements of past decades see echoes of the PEACE symbol, which was widespread at the time, in the work of art, which was striving towards the sky. The sculpture was erected in 2018.

It is a world-renowned symbol for peace: the "peace sign" turned 60 this year. The new sculpture "Friedenszeichen" takes up this ball. In terms of content, this sculpture is intended to commemorate the peace movement of the 1968 generation.

Now it is part of the sculpture path "The View", for which a working group of the Diepholz Agenda 21 Foundation is committed under the leadership of the project sponsor Ulrich Halfpap. It is no coincidence that the supporting column is reminiscent of the silhouette of the Eiffel Tower. Because the sculpture is also intended to commemorate the terrorist attack on the Parisian club "Bataclan" in November 2015.

"A little memorial to look at," Halfpap explains the intention. The work should make you think and perhaps encourage you to become a peacemaker yourself.
