    Hiking

Sulzrieden means "salty swamp" and presumably goes back to one of the few Slavic settlements in western Thuringia, which is confirmed by an archaeological grave discovery. The settlement was mentioned in documents in 1197 and 1299 as "Berca minor". Sulzrieden was already described as desolate in letters of enfeoffment in the 16th century.

    Hiking

Right next to it is the impressive Silberborn linden tree. The trunk is open enough for four people to easily stand in.

Just a few steps below the tree is the Silberborn, recognizable by the channel through which the water gushes out of the ground.

    Hiking

The place itself is quite unspectacular, but the surroundings, of course, the more beautiful.
