The Große Oelsener See is a 94 hectare lake south of Müllrose and east of Beeskow in the Schlaubetal Nature Park.
The Demnitz flows into the northeast bay of the lake, the Oelse flows through it from south to northwest and flows into the Spree near Beeskow. Its shape is that of a "Y". Dammendorf is located on the eastern part of the lake, where the Demnitz flows, and Oelsen is located on the western part of the lake. The Oelsener Mühle, a little to the north, has been at the point where the Oelse left the lake in the direction of Oegeln since 1406.
