Here a shepherd from Neuenhof put the host given to him in a hollow tree after the Easter mass in Kranenburg in 1280. He repented and returned to church and confessed his sin to the pastor. The pastor asked him to show the tree in which the host lay. They went out with a monstrance and an altar boy. The shepherd showed him this tree and the pastor tried to get her out of there. The host went much deeper into the tree and the pastor stopped the experiment. He prayed to God that he would still be able to see what would happen to this host. In 1308 this tree was felled and delivered to him. It was supposed to be made of firewood. When this tree was cut, the Holy Miraculous Cross appeared. This cross made Kranenburg a place of pilgrimage. There is a cross tower in the cruise ship of the collegiate and pilgrimage church of St. Peter and Paul. At the place where the tree with the host stood, there is now the holy cross. The hole in the stele shows the pilgrimage church
