From 1702 created channel and on 8 km length hydraulic connection between Nymphenburg Castle and the Isar. Dug by soldiers on behalf of Elector Max Emanuel and part of an originally around 50 km comprehensive Baroque canal system, with which the residences of the Wittelsbachs in the Munich area should be navigably connected. Also flows through the Olympic Park and widens there to the Olympic Lake.
