The Torii Tower is a 97 meter high steel truss tower built in 1972 near Gusborn in Lower Saxony. It is designed as a double tower and bears its name because its construction is similar to a gate in Japanese shrines, called torii. The torii tower was made in the USA and was originally intended to be erected in Vietnam, but was then erected in Gusborn. The torii tower originally served as a listening post. The BFBS program was also broadcast on VHF and UHF (channel 51) from this location. Today it serves as an antenna carrier for BOS and mobile communications.de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torii-Tower
