The latest jewel in Singapore's artistic crown, the National Gallery Singapore is a brand new fine arts institute with a unique collection of modern artworks from Singapore and Southeast Asia. Striving to curate a collection that offers insights into the region's unique art, heritage and history, a visit here has been a must since it opened in November 2015.
The gallery displays over 8,000 works from Singapore's national collection. This makes it one of the world's largest and most valuable collections of modern art from Singapore and Southeast Asia from the 19th century to the present day. National Gallery Singapore's focus is to provide a unique art experience and inspire international recognition of its rich history and heritage.
The extensive exhibition of Singapore art features important paintings and works by famous Singaporean artists such as Georgette Chen, Chen Chong Swee, Chen Wen Hsi, Cheong Soo Pieng and Liu Kang. The collection also includes significant artworks by famous Southeast Asian artists such as Raden Saleh (Indonesia), Latiff Mohidin (Malaysia), Montien Boonma (Thailand), U Ba Nyan (Myanmar), Nguyen Gia Tri (Vietnam), Svay Ken (Cambodia) and Fernando Cueto Amorsolo (Philippines).

The historic City Hall and the Singapore Supreme Court building were connected by a striking aluminum and glass roof. The result is the breathtaking National Gallery of Singapore. It was opened in November 2015.
