On the Hägberg ridge is one (of formerly three) Frau Holle stones. How this boulder with the basin-like indentation got here is unknown. In Oberbessenbach, the children were told that it snowed when Mother Holle shook out their beds here. Frau Holle is the most frequently occurring fairy tale character in the Spessart. Many special places in the cultural landscape are traced back to them. The legends about Frau Holle are more interesting than the stone itself, so be sure to read the information board.

Hiking

The Frau-Holle-Stein is a little hidden, but very well signposted, in the middle of the Spessart and with its basin-like deepening it is considered a geological peculiarity and the impetus for some legends about Frau Holle. For me it is always a nice surprise at home to find legends about the fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm.
