Skagen Kirke is the northernmost church in Denmark and the successor of the Tilsandede Kirke, the old, sand-blasted church south of the city, of which still stands today the tower. The neo-classical style church was built according to plans by Christian Frederik Hansen and was inaugurated in 1841.

Skagen Church was built between 1839 and 1841. It was rebuilt in 1909/10 by Ulrik Plesner, and Thorvald Bindesbøll executed the drawings for the church's decoration. In modern times, Niels Helledie created the distinctive cross on the church's north wall and the Crucifixion group on the altar in 1994.
