The silted up church called St. Laurentius was estimated to have been built in the second half of the 14th century. At that time the church was the largest church in Vendsyssel. It gathered the congregation together for nearly four hundred years, until the destructive power of the sand lay over Kirchenstrasse and the cemetery. For many years the community fought against the sand - but in the end the fight against the sand was given up. In 1975 the congregation was forced to stop the service and close the church.

The tower of the - Tilsande Kirke - has been a listed building since 1903 and can even be visited - daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. To do this, you first have to climb a very narrow spiral staircase. Once you have overcome this it is easier.
