The Letterndenkmal in Mainz, located on Liebfrauenplatz between the cathedral and the Gutenberg Museum, is a special monument in honor of Johannes Gutenberg and his invention of the printing press with movable type. It consists of nine blocks that form the word “GUTENBERG”. The monument was created by stonemasons from Mainz and Rheinhessen and is a popular meeting place, especially during the weekly market.
