The Teleférico del Teide is the highest cable car in Spain. It leads from the valley station at 2356 meters to 3555 meters above sea level, 163 meters below the Teide summit. The cable car covers the distance of 2,482 meters and an altitude difference of 1,199 meters in eight minutes. The cabins have a capacity of up to 44 people. The cable car was built in 1971 by the Italian company Ceretti & Tanfani and modernized by Doppelmayr in 1999. The motor that drives the cable car to a maximum speed of 8 m / s has an output of around 880 kW.
