The boat that ensured that the museum gained an important landmark.

It is a typical work by Erwin Wurm in which a familiar form deviates slightly from reality. As the title suggests, this work creates doubt and an insecure attitude in the viewer: Misconceivable or 'possibly misunderstood'.

Like many of Wurm's sculptures, Misconceivable combines an investigation into the limits and possibilities of sculpture, with both an absurd humor and a wry undertone of powerlessness. The monumental work gives a striking touch to the main entrance of the arts park in Middelheimlaan.

Middelheim Museum has acquired the key work of the exhibition Wear me out by Erwin Wurm. The crooked boot of Misconceivable (2010) will definitely be given a place in the museum collection. Following the purchase of this work, Erwin Wurm donated two other works to the museum: Pedestal for One Minute Sculptures (2011) and Disziplin der Subjektivität (2011). Both were made for the exhibition Wear Me Out.
